» A Tale of Two Cameras

Looking for the perfect digital camera this holiday season? So was FiringSquad. It was a big problem. No one could help. Fortunately, we were able to find our friend, Alan /. effect Dang, and get a digital camera guide from him. Only this time, he didn't send us a Word doc like he normally does. Said something about this article being a digital guide from this thing called Pfucata.com. Read it. You'll like it. It's good. It's different. We think he stole it from aliens.

Some people are still confused about depth of field. Sensor size does affect depth of field. A 100mm equivalent focal length at f/2.8 will have more DOF on the small sensor than on a large sensor. This is because the distance between the sensor and the lens is greater on the D-SLR versus the smaller sensor camera. The fact that this point is lost on other buyers' guides is reflective of how poor other "guides" have been on the past

DOF is affected by focal length, aperture, and the distance between the lens and sensor. Since DSLRs have a larger sensor, the distance between the lens and sensor is increased.

I love my EOS300D but it has a better (optical) zoom that 3x (I
thought the standard lens was better that 3x too? I'll dig it out)

K2oo you are such a friggen loser. What have you ever written,
besides message board posts flaming the works of others? Maybe if
you know so much, you should write your own article and not spend so
much time on the FS message boards.

While maybe not perfect, I think the piece does a good job of
informing its intended audience. I don't think that audience is you
K2oo. So get a life.

Any a-hole can criticize someone elses work. It takes a certain
amount of balls to put your own work out there for criticism.
