I stand by my post. Unlike you, I _thuroughly_ tested this
non-sense because I could not believe what I was experiencing. I
wanted to keep the 6800GT. My post gives a direct link where you
can see the issue yourself. Stick your head in the ground if you
like, but the current crop of nvidia boards are not up to snuff.

Looks like Nvidia is re-doing their 3.0 spec. So much for
"future-proof" products.

I've got both ATI and NVIDIA hardware around the "labs",
and I have to say that overall I defintely give the "better
drivers" award to NVIDIA. Better support for tuning refresh
rates, better support for managing the TV-Out (or using a DVI cable
to hook up to HDTV), and just overall better drivers.
The conclusion of this article is sort of ironic. Yup, the X800XL
is a nice card, although it typically runs $350+ at anywhere but
CompUSA. Funny thing is that AGP 6800GT cards by eVGA are now
available for $330 online. That basically makes the decision very
simple:
PCIe = X800XL
AGP = 6800GT
Performance Advantage: 6800GT usually, but not by much.

Looking at still pictures for FSAA is worthless. Unless you see it
in action, it don't really cut it.
I play many games on both cards. ATI still have FSAA down much much
better than nVidia. Though nVidia has speed. I'd prefer better
looking that speed any day. Espicially since the speed difference
is negligable.

Heh, cronicles of riddick ran great on 5900XT I used to have.
1280x1024 0af,0aa. Now I got 6800GT, and it looks so much better. It
looks even more stunning.
9800Pro was a great card, but just let it die. 6800GT is a great
card, and besides buggy-but-blazing-fast-in-HL2 drivers (75.90beta),
the card doesn't have any weak points at all.

I went from a Radeon 9800 Pro to GeForce 6800 GT like you claim to
have and so, that's why I'm a little perplexed by your
"critique". First of all, I just looked at the nVidia
driver control panel and there doesn't seem to be a way to force
32-bit textures. Not that I ever needed to, since I have never
noticed any 16-bit textures in any of the games that I've played
with this card thus far.
"On the texturing side, ATI does 24-bit texturing. Nvidia is
supposed to do 32-bit, but the cheap out and do 16-bit." <--
Uh, this is why the GF5xxx series sucked but, fortunately, the
GF6xxx series does 24-bit color according to DX9 specs, just like
the ATI cards and thus, there is no issue.
I haven't noticed much difference between the quality of anisotropic
filtering, but the anti-alising is clearly superior on the 6800 GT.
In fact, 2x AA on 6800 GT looks almost as good as 4x did on a 9800
Pro. Also, I hope that you are not claiming that a 9800 Pro performs
faster than a 6800 GT under ANY circumstance, because that would
just be silly.
I notice less graphical glitches in FarCry on the GF6800 GT too.
Both Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 look gorgeous and WoW looks and runs
exellent, graphics maxed out, with 4x AA/8x Aniso and
"level-of-detail" auto-adjust off.
Any way, I was very happy with my Radeon 9800 Pro for a while, but
when it came time to upgrade, I went with nVidia, because having
PS3.0 seemed more "future-proof" and I haven't regretted
it once. It's been everything a good video card upgrade should. Just
like going from GF4 to 9800 Pro.
