| | (Post a comment) » NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Performance PreviewSince successfully launching GeForce 6800 Ultra just over a year ago, NVIDIA's been tackling other challenges. Last summer it was the GeForce 6600/6600 GT, then last winter it was SLI. Now NVIDIA is poised to unveil their second-generation shader model 3.0 part, GeForce 7800 GTX, and it's been built to deliver impressive frame rates. But performance isn't the only new item with this new card, as NVIDIA also ups the image quality factor by a notch or two. See how the 7800 GTX stacks up against its competitors in today's article! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

I've got a 3.4GHz Northwood P4 with AGP. It would be nice to slot in
a 7800GTX, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a card I
couldn't use in my next system. I think my 5900 Ultra will last a
little longer. If I had say a Ti4600 or less I'd go for one of the
midrange cards to tide me over until I was going to upgrade the
whole system.

Probably never unless demand picks up (i.e. lots of gamers with AGP
systems start demanding $600 video cards).

OMFG!!! Chronicles of Riddick EFBB benchies now!!!! I pay your
billzzzz!!!!!! Give me benchies nowWWWW..!!!!!
Please!? I'm merely making a request. I've looked over most of the
other websites reviews and I'd say this one is pretty much the best
IMO as far as games go. Seems like none of the sites want to touch
running this game in shader 2.0++ mode, and I think a lot of folks
besides myself would be interested. Keep up the good work FS!

No problem, I grew up on flight sims -- the Falcon series, F-15
Strike Eagle series, Gunship, F-19, etc. so I want to do what I can
to support the genre (which sadly, isn't as big as it used to be).
#40: That's a good suggestion, I will look into that.
#42: We do like to normally go back and do CPU scaling tests. I will
definitely look into that. With an FX-55 already showing CPU-limited
situations though the processor that isn't CPU-bound with the 7800
GTX may not exist yet.

Oh, in addition.. I'd either purchase another Ap Grille CRT OR.. if
I could find an LCD with a low pixel refresh, 19"+, 2048x1536
capable, under $1k.

I'm still waiting for a card in the $150-300 price range that
doesn't require an extra power connector AND has better performance
than my AGP-based 9600XT. I'm not holding my breath. ;)
