Alan,
Will you be doing an updated test with the Nvidia 81.87 drivers? I
believe there's some improvements in that driver set. Also, now that
Nvidia and ATI are using the HQV benchmark as well, is it not likely
they will tweak their drivers to do well in the HQV bencmark like
cadence detection while not truly improving it?

I'd love to see Dscaler and similar software included in a test like
this. Seems to me AVIVO and the likes are all marketing hype, since
deinterlacing (and pretty much everything else) was available for
free since long ago. Anyway, good work!

That's great feedback. I will make sure it gets passed on to the
right people.
My articles and Alexis's articles have always been the
"off-topic" ones. That's my specialty (be it consoles,
HDTV, audio, workstations, etc).

To Alan and the rest of FiringSquad(Thresh if he even comes to the
site)
Alan - Great Job, FS hasn't had a detailed article like this in
quite some time. A difficult subject, yet understandable for us
commoners. But with this kind of an article I'd have to expect it on
Anandtech or Toms Hardware.
FS Squad- Where is the site going now? DVD image quality. Lets check
back to what this site was intended and created for, If I look up at
the banner 'Home of the Hard Core Gamer', It's been years since this
was the home of the hard core gamer. When this site began thresh and
calbear would review devices and tweaks that serious hardcore
gamers look for. There has been a ton of mousepad products, a slew
of new mice (laser, gaming designed), tweaks for certain games
etc.... and fs squad has managed to cover none of that. You get
where I am going with this.. how about going back to the roots. Tell
me whats the best mice currently? Logitch, MS, Razer how about a
shootout. Best Gaming LCD available? Anyway GL guys. Well made
article.

those of us who wont nitpick on 1% difference dont care about
quality according to alan. i feel sorry for those who worry about 1%
difference in video quality. must be hard for them to sleep at
night.
oh and dont forget to spread the word about how lame the articles
are here at firingsquid. it has been a long time since they did an
article that is useful for gaming. lets all watch videos and take
pictures instead.

This article is way too informed and well done in general to be
published here at this mediocre website.

ATI sucks. Their so-called "drivers" are the worst EVER.

These are from the US in HD. The problem with Fox is that they've
recently decreased the broadcast bandwidth. In the first season,
the OC was broadcast as 480p over bandwidth allocated for HD feeds.
The noise was substantially lower back then.
It's not intentional -- at least on the US feeds. There may be
noise by the time it's converted to PAL.
