where is the side by side comparion to the 6600 ddr1?
i mean that's only reasonable to include... as the ddr1 variant is
still very prevalant and a comparison between the two product lines
would be great.

I have been very succesful moving hard drives from machine to
machine and having XP Pro working with everything... especially when
moving it from an AMD machine to an AMD or an Intel to Intel
machine. Have had no issues.

Not a chance! 6600GT beats 9800 Pro in virtually every game (and
where it doesn't beat it, it's within a few percent). The 9800 Pro
is clocked 380/680 compared to the 9700 Pro's 325/620. There were
also a few architectural tweaks to the 9800 Pro. All told, a 9800
Pro is generally 15% faster than the 9700 Pro, and the 6600GT is at
least 15% faster than the 9800 Pro in most games. (And then there's
the Doom3/Quake4 games where it's about 75% faster....)

Your 9700Pro is better than this! probably equal to 660GT except in
maybe opengl games i.e doom3,riddick,quake4..but better then it in
directx games like half-life-2.
Why you wanna upgrade! 9700Pro is what made ATI better then Nvidia.
That card rawks..stay with it. if ur upgrading go with pci-e and a
6800gt or above.

I am dreaming. I wish the 7800GTX was in AGP.
I built my FX53 with a BFG 6800 Ultra a year ago when D3 came out.
Now I'm stuck. I knew PCI express was coming out, but didn't think
they'd just abandon AGP like that.
My FX53 is capable of running a 7800GTX, but I'm stuck. I usually
upgrade my video card 1.5 years after the build. This time I
can't.
Buy a new MB and 7800GTX? That means a re-format, not fun. So
yeah, count me in as someone who is @%!%&$ off the 7800 series is
PCI only.

the 6600GT is just a so much more capable card for only a few bucks
more and gddr3 memory. i dont think you need to waste your time with
this card. for less than 50 bucks more.
i have 2 in sli and think for less than $400(us) they were so much
better at the time than any 6800 card. but now with the 7800 cards
out i am up-grading to a 7800 at x-mas........

Although I agree with you that high-end parts like 7800GT or GTX
wont make it to AGP, nVidia did hint that there would be some new
mid-end AGP card... perhaps something for all the 6600GT and 6800GT
owners to upgrade to? I'm sure that going over the sales figures,
they've noticed they still have plenty of straglers.

Seems like the 256MB version costs a lot more, yet you insist that
you must have the extra memory. Obviously you haven't been looking
at the benchmarks. I'll give you a clue.. I bet I can guess how your
256MB version will perform within 0.5fps based on the 128MB scores.
But, hey, if you like funding your favorite company, that's your
perogative.
