(Post a comment) » King Kong ReviewAlan Dang can't stop talking about the new King Kong game. He describes it as the game that hasn't gotten good reviews because it's too sophisticated for many console gamers, and yet is best experienced on a console, preventing PC gamers from having the full experience. Updated with PC vs Xbox 360 screenshots and comments about the movie as well. | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

If we sold out, we wouldn't need so many ads now would we? ;)
It's a good game if you have the opportunity to play the Xbox 360 or
PC Gamer's Edition where the graphics really have a chance to alter
the gameplay. It's a survival-terror game. The fear comes from all
the predators you can't see but can only hear because it's too dark
-- the Xbox, PC, or PS2 version doesn't have the lighting model
needed to pull this effect off.

If the regular version of King Kong on PC looked like the 360
version, it would run like crap on all but the best PC's. They'd
have a very small customer base. (Although they should've just
combined the 2 versions and called the Gamer's Edition the
"High Quality" setting, like most games do, and have it
run much lower by default and have air raid sirens go off when you
attempt to use the high setting. Nice run-on. =P

I know! It's funny that you used those words to describe your
experience since that's what the Richochet Award is all about. It's
not the masterpiece that an Editor's Choice game is like (the ones
that come once every few yearS), but King Kong is so polished of a
game, and so much *fun* that there's something special about it.
It's way more fun than you expect it to be.

Well, I bought the PC version yesterday morning, and I have finished
it after a marathon session. My 2 cents...
Great game... has that special quality about it that pulls you right
in. Very high production values, has a couple of quirks... but
overall, scintillating gameplay.
One of my favorite games... ever.
