| | (Post a comment) » Bug in Dead or Alive 4 erases saved gamesGamespot reports that a glitch with Tecmo's highly anticipated Xbox 360 title, Dead or Alive 4, can result in losing all your saved data -- including all your unlocked characters, achievements, and online rankings:
Was gintheplacetobe's experience an isolated case of bad luck, or a more widespread problem? After a several-day lag, a Tecmo rep indicated that there is a problem with some copies of the game. "We're aware of the issue you're referring to," the rep told GameSpot. "We're working to identify and resolve the potential problem with the technical folks at Microsoft." The rep said a patch would be coming soon.
So what can DOA4 players do in the meantime to ensure their hard-fought DOA4 victories don't vanish into thin air? Tecmo technical support says to do the following: (1) With your copy of DOA4 already inserted, turn on your 360 by pressing the "open tray" button. (2) Wait until all the information from your Gamer Profile is fully displayed on your Gamer Card, including achievements and other awards. (3) Close the tray again with DOA4 still inserted. If problems still occur, e-mail Tecmo technical support at help@tecmoinc.com.

Duh? Actually, could you point to anything that was NOT rushed in
the 360?

Yeap, console is becoming as bad as PC became after downloading
became easy: when there is no simple way to patch, games are checked
and double-checked, when it's simple to patch, it just goes
"who cares, gamers will find the bugs and we may fix them
later, just get the cash now!".

the whole downloadable for console sometimes just breaks my heart.
console games' advantage was that there was no need for a patch as
developers put in great care to realease a perfected bug free game.
great... more reasons for developers to rush out their titles as
they could "fix" their games later. battlefield 2 comes in
mind. but what if its not a AAA title? what then... do we just say
&!%$ it and let the developers be for never fixing it giving us a
buggy game?

if you read post you'll notice that this doesnt affect all games.
The game obviously wasnt rushed with all of those delays and the
fact that most copies work just fine. Maybe this was the reason for
the delays and somehow the original bad discs got shippe with the
good ones (or not). And besides what exactly was "rushed"
about the 360 other than the fact that it came out first?
