I agree.. I have both systems now I play my games on, PC for FPS and
RTS, and my Xbox (360 aswell now) for racing, sport and fighting
games etc.. They complement eachother nicely.. So I'm happy to see
sites like FS spending time on both now..
Onlt thing I concerned about it is FPS gamedevelopers going
console-only.. FPS belongs on the PC imho because of the controls..
I have no problem with FPS games being on both platforms, but they
should not become console-only because I don't want to be forced to
play FPS with a controller.. Games like Halo or the upcoming Black
etc I will never play because of that, which is sad..

#32,#33,#34,#35,#36, I agree with you all. Compared to for ?two
years ago, FS seems a bit "stupid" today. I have been hit
with that feeling many times lately. OTOH, as a player of all
formats, I can't really take part in console bashing. They have
their place. Like DOA, it's quite fun sometimes and very social. But
I don't like what console games are doing to PC games lately. PC
games are becoming increasingly "consoleish" and that's
disgusting. Take COD2 for instance. Only eyecandy, no AI worth
mention, just mechanical scripts. And that is in order to fit it on
a 360. The whole idea to play FPS or RPG on a console is so stupid
anyway. The very thing of doing it is going to seriously influence
the direction in which these games evolve. And that's plenty BAD
IMO.

Unfortunately, the PC game experience is being used to improve game
quality for consoles and the consoles are having a degrading effect
on the quality of PC games. Now, all these games look good but play
like crap.

Yeah but the total boner for consoles is too much. This site used
to review real RPG's. Talk about the past. How about some previews
for NWN2, Oblivion? Conan Online? D&D Online? Gothic 3? Still
waiting for a Gothic 2 or Morrowind review.

FS used to devote only to things PC cause back then, the consoles
hardware and software were only for "kids." It's a
different story now. Ever since the Dreamcast, the consoles have
graphic capability of PCs. Even PC only software developers like ID
Software are making games for consoles. Everyone knows consoles can
not be ignored and they make the most money for game developers.
Since this is the trend, FS cannot ignore consoles either. Just my
2cents.

So true. The site is now focusing on what used to be the bane of
FPS'ers: kiddy consoles and boring games.

I'm not trying to troll. This site used to be a great resource for
FPS and RPG's. Now its clearly focused on RTS, WWII and Console.
The last decent review here was Quake 4 last October. The only
saving grace are the hardware reviews. That's my opinion of course,
but its shared by a alot of former fans of the site.
I've been coming to this site for many years and the shift in focus
is pretty sad. Sorry if you don't like what I have to say.

You're not playing the right fighting game if you want realistic
bone breaking, go try something like UFC (although I've never played
it before myself, so I don't really know) instead of VF or DoA.
Virtua Fighter DOES have a simulated body weight model - try doing
certain float combos on Jeffery, and then try the same combo on Pai
- certain low floats can't be done on heavyweights while they can on
lighter characters.
Perhaps you need to explore the VF system further, it is quite
deservedly the deepest 3D fighting game so far (especially VF4: FT).

"The first time I faced Alpha-152, it took me almost 2 hours to
beat her – and that was pure luck."
LOL. I kinda suck at fighters. If anything, I am quite a button
masher, but it took me a maximum of maybe 6 attempts to beat her
with the Bruce Lee-like guy my first time playing. Though, it was
indeeed pure luck. I guess I'm just a lot luckier than you.
I played 3D fighters since VF and the whole formula has gotten
really old and needs a major overhaul if fighters are to ever become
anything but a niche genre again. DoA4 kinda bores me. Where are the
ragdolls physics, location-based damage, realistic weight, bone
breakage, etc, etc, etc? I'm so sick of preset animations and
never-ending air-juggling combos. &$$&!## a, there is just some much
more that they can do with this genre these days. We have the
technology, people!
Having said that, I'm sure that I'll find DoA4 more rewarding if I
actually find some time put into playing it.

Or maybe you'll say the racing game reviews are worse because they
aren't too in-depth.
Who knows. You could argue against putting scores on games because
people pay too much attention to them.
I think game reviews are more difficult than movie reviews because
games are longer and because the skill level of gamers is so
variable. And your skill level can really affect your experience
in many games. It also affects the length of games. GAmes too
often have a ton of features alot of folks will never use.
Contrast that with a movie where everyone can pretty much follow
along in every 2 hr mainstream movie. You're not paying for alot of
junk you're not going to see tho you may be paying for junk.
