» EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GS CO Superclock Review

With clock speeds of 460MHz core/1350MHz memory, EVGA's e-GeForce 7800 GS CO Superclock is the fastest GeForce 7800 GS AGP card on the market right now. But how much additional performance does the card's boosted clocks buy you? Find out as we test this card against the latest AGP cards on the market (as well as the 9800 Pro) as well as run a few CPU scaling tests to see how it performs at lower clock speeds. And don't forget to check out the overclocking results!

I guess i got the only "good" 7800 gs co superclocked.
i stepped up from a 6800 gs "plain"
on most of my games im seeing a 70% increase in framerate
this card hauls butt in my computer and never has artifacts.
cod2, fear, doom3, hl2-lost coast, Farcry, nfs most wanted, toca
racedriver 3, and las t but not least "halo" can all be
run at full settings(with the exception of crazy 6-8X antialiasing)

at 1280X1024 the top resolution my monitor will run at. and all of
these games run at a great framerate, as compared to my old 6800 gs
card which is good for the money but just dosent deliver the kick
&%$ framerates i want to see my games in their true form.

GREAT CARD RECCOMEND TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THE BEST
FROM WHAT IVE SEEN IN GAMING AND I DO A LOT THERE IS NO MAJOR OR
MINOR MALFUNCTION.

LOVE THE CARD

I am very disappointed with my EVGA 7800 GS superclocked
256-A8-N508. I was replacing my BFG nVidia 5950 card. I did check
out the forums here and at EVGA and followed all of the suggestions
and still had very poor results. After I gave a solo direct lead
from my Antec 500 smartpower 2.0 power supply, I finally got it
running well on COD2 and on FEAR and on the 3D 06 tests. But after
15 minutes in COD2 my game froze, and I quit it and checked the gpu
temp thru nVidias display properties and it was only 42 C max.

But I repeated have gotten artifacts AND in FEAR garbled text. I
sending talked to tech support and they will send me a new card,
but.... so many are on their second or 3rd try on a "good"
card that maybe I should give up. ??? Can I get back a full refund
from mWave where I bought it or from EVGA ?????

Now edited for spelling!

Beware this card! It has artifacting problems for many users. Do
yourself a favor and check out the EVGA forums for the 7-series
cards and see for yourself. Pushing the envelope with overclocking
does have consequences. No real solution to the problem exists. I
had to return my card after I followed all the recommended fixes
(change drivers, check PSU specs, RAM specs, ect...) to no avail.

I'm looking forward to Stalker being released by yrs end, but I
won't play it until I have my DX10 box up and running.

Other than that, what other blockbusters are coming out?

Anyway, you sound like you're way more enthusiastic about games
overall than I am, so don't let a jaded fool like me bog you
down...LOL.

Well, Yeah theres alot of fps games out that just dont bring
anything new to the table. The 7800 gs superclock here is $319 (dont
know how much that is in Australia) and the 6800 GS is about $120
less here. Thers alot of games coming out, Im hoping that they bring
something new to the table and dont just recycle old fps games like
doom, Half life 2, etc. I like a different variety of games. So far
im looking foward to Quake Wars, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter,
The new Hitman, Splinter cell: double agent, test drive unlimited,
Middle earth 2, Unreal tournament 07, flight simulator 06/07, just
anything thats new and brings something we havnt seen in older
games.
