Unfortunately, we (the editors) can't control which words the
intellitext ads will appear for, they just pop up once we post our
articles. I admit that they have gotten more obtrusive over the
years, but at the same time my understanding is that they do
generate a fair amount of revenue for us. I believe they just
started doing the popup mess, I hadn't seen that until just recently
and I agree that it is an eyesore.

I can't WAIT for the first reports of Oblivion performance peoples
machines. I've got an x850XT and folks keep saying it will run
smooth. We'll see about that!
I'm banking on 6 FPS during outdoor combat myself.

Quick question: what's with the Intellitxt ads polluting FS lately?
I've been a longtime visitor to the site due to its credibility and
no-nonsense attitude. But adopting an intrusive and obtrusive ad
scheme is not something I expected from Firing Squad. There are
times I can barely see the article for all the %&&! popups that
spring up whenever I move the mouse over the screen.
Somebody please tell me this is getting fixed...

Once they get Physics into the GPU, I hope they then implement
Chemistry to alter my brain into actually thinking that it is worth
buying crap hype hardware to run the most unreaplayable uncreative
games in the universe. Actually, never mind that.

"Completely Optimized" for next gen? Ha! I am surprised
you did not ask them about ET:Oblivion and the fact the game was
unable to run at reasonable performance levels with higher quality
shadows. It is unforunate the original shadowing engine in Oblivion
was cut after E3 because it performed poorly. While the new
implimentation looks ok, the fact dynamic objects don't cast shadows
at all is a big let down. The chain and rib cage demo in the dungeon
looks great, ditto the sharp contrast on self shadowing. So I would
take their comment about being "one of the best engines"
with a grain of salt.
Interestingly they mention AGEIA. Their biggest game, Oblivion,
doesn't support it and are on record that they wont add a patch for
AGEIA. Which, honestly, was a good move because AGEIA is late and
with NV and ATI both doing physics on the GPU and offering quality
multi-GPU solutions consumers will get much better bang for buck
(both due to market penetration, versatility in use in non-physics
demanding games, and cost). PhysX is DOA.

Oblivion will be out soon, we'll see how much of the promised
features turn out to be actually delivered, as apparently quite a
few things that were demonstrated in the first E3 videos were
removed from the final game... and the last outdoors screenshot
weren't so striking (Far Cry-class, which isn't bad in and of
itself, but not what it was hyped to be).
