| | (Post a comment) » GDC 06 Reporters Notebook: Day 2, Epic, Garage Games, AGEIA, and Streamline StudiosIn today's GDC 2006 report, JCal revisits AGEIA to spend more time behind the wheel of a PhysX-powered PC. Inside JCal reveals more impressions of the physics-based game Cell Factor, as well as inquiring more on AGEIA's retail plans for PhysX cards -- is a lower-priced sub-$200 PhysX card in the works? Also in today's report, JCal checks out Epic's latest build of Unreal Engine 3, as well as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 2007. JCal also goes over Battlestar Galactica producer Ronald D. Moore's keynote address, visits Garage Games to check out Legions (Garage Games tech demo that's eerily reminiscent of Tribes), and Streamline Studios XBLA title Hoopworlds! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

I knew T:V was just a UT2K4 mod, but the admins over at TW kept
saying to give it a chance. Yeah, right, what a complete joke that
was. Most don't even consider it a Tribes game, more of a mod on
another engine.
Legions will be better, since it's on the TSE engine and the people
making it actually know what the fans want.

I just don't see AGEIA's PhysX cards really taking off and becoming
a standard. The price is way too high! I could just buy a dual core
and wait for quadcore processors. Aren't computer products already
expensive enough and now we're all going to need a physics chip.
Sorry..no thanks. I'll let my AMD processor do that. That is what
it is intended to do anyways.
The only hope they have is to get the developers to buy them to
accelerate the time of creating games. Only a few percent of the
consumer market will buy these at $200+. Get it down to $50 - 100
and we'll talk.

##%!, I wish the BSG producer would go more in-depth as to the
future plot and storyline of the series...

I find the Legions coverage and related comments terribly amusing
because it was FS that called Tribes: Vengance "not only like
the best Tribes game ever, but the best multiplayer shooter we've
seen. There's an absolutely incredible dynamic to it, a flow of
glorious, violent action that not only meets the lofty standards of
the original, but exceeds them." in a preview and then never
actually reviewed the game. Bang up job.

CellFactor not online? What the hell is the point then? I hate
corporate America, "lets give them something to drool over and
not tell them it doesn't work in the most logical way.
Muhahahaha!"
