I cant stand all you blind followers of Blizzard.
WARCRAFT III SUCKED.
On EASY MODE I cant even relax when playing this game. By the time I
even know what the hell my unit's abilities are, the computer player
has nearly every unit in the game already built, and all the gold
mines taken.
There's really no point in trying to develop strategy. All the
units, no matter what their abilities, all seem to die too fast for
you you even find them in the middle of the massive clump of combat
they get into. Seriously, they swarm and it takes you 5 minutes to
even find a unit in the confusion.
The balance of unit lifespan vs building lifespan is rediculous. The
enemy can waltz all the way from across the map to kill off your
units before you get a chance to finish off a single building.
Another reason I hate this game: It relies too much on heroes. I
dont want to have to manage my town structures AND run around with
my hero gathering XP while I'm franticly trying to figure out where
to build, what my resources are, what goals to reach, how many
buildings are upgrading, how many units are assigned to the right
number of forest/gold resources. By the time you even catch up to
annoying maintenance, you've been wiped out by the enemy player.
There's no time to "strategize" in this game at all.
You're too busy worrying about stupid crap that should be taken out
or managed by the game automatically to be able to worry about
combat strategy. There's really no point. It all boils down to... if
the opponent has fliers or not and if you have units that can hit
air targets. All the units are genericly the same. Dont bother
building mages or

I still bust out WC3 on occasion. Well balanced, and very fun,
though I never got into the mod craze... I still prefer the
standard ladder.

I only play CNC Zerohour, well playED, EA has buried the finest true
warefare RTS, and its talents, deep in its bowels of its policy
advisors and CEOs, or wherever the fhuck they continue to sweep
under their rugs. I'm at least looking forward to Supreme commander.

I still play. I've played a few RTS games and none of them even come
close to Warcraft 3:TFT. It just has so much depth, near perfect
balance, so many strategic options and the micro required in battles
makes every single batter great fun :)
I think the mods suck though

Legions play WC3, there just has been no RTS released since that
even compares in balance and gameplay depth.
Kinda sad really, but all we ever got since were bland games with
pretty graphics (AOE and clones), abysmal gameplay games
(StarWars-themed ones) and pathetic gameplay games (LOTR-based
ones). AOE clones are a dime a dozen and utterly boring, the others
ones are just poor excuses at milking a franchise.
