Last time I checked "But...but...everybody else is doing
it" wasnt an acceptable defense. How old is the author of this
article?

And I'm SURE that being games related site, Firing squad is unbiased
in its assessment.

But the point of the rating system is to educate parents about game
content. Besides, they found similar results with T-rated games.

There is a double standard. I remember when I purchased Halo for PC
they (Best Buy) asked for my age (I was 15, but my brother was 17 so
he took care of it).

However, since I have gotten my job and money. I've been buying
various R rated movies and no one even blinks I'm only 16. Seven,
Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Terminator, etc. Now Fight Club alone is
more graphic than Halo. Halo you shoot a bunch of goofy looking
aliens. In fight club, you watch people get pummeled into globs of
blood.

However, to get fight club, I just gave the $10 and was on my way.
Its true what the article said. HAlo has a huge thing on the front
that says M Mature 17+, but I had to search for the R descriptor on
Fight Club and even then it's just a small R. If one lived under a
rock they could tell that Halo was for 17+ yr olds and had violence
and gore, but for Fight Club one knows nothing.

"The ESRB has a history of failing our parents. The FTC has
done numerous studies showing that 13-16 olds can easily purchase
M-rated video games at retailers."

How is it the ESRB's fault that 13-16 year olds can easily purchase
M-rated video games at retailers? Wouldn't that be the RETAILER'S
fault? That's like saying it's Smith & Wesson's fault that a
store failed to conduct a background check. Huh? Go yell at Best
Buy and Blockbuster if kids can get GTA without a parent!

far more difficult time purchasing R-rated movies."

Yeah, but where exactly were the parents when the kids bought/rented
and watched them?

Idiots...

I think that is really stupid how "they dont list all the
content on the back of the box" If the @!#$ thing has M for
mature on the front and on the back says $!& and violence but doesnt
list torture or extreme gore why would it matter if it has an M it's
not suitable for kids and whatever it says on the back shouldnt
really matter at that point, period.
