I finished this game in less than 24 hours as the game stats shows and it was every bit enjoyable till the end of the storyline game. After that it gets abit dull as you would just travel, explore, take new jobs and test out the dynamics of every faction you join.
I don't know how they made the graphics so nice and framerates so fast, every space ship is very detailed, and the background for each solar system directly reflects how that part of the galaxy looks on a map(a first in any space sim), not to mention space "weather effects". Combined with dynamic sound and music, it's very cool. Also, every planet you go has a distinct setting.
The storyline is very engaging even though it seems like you've heard of it somewhere before, there are many suprises. And the last missions are the best, they are like the ones pulled straight from the movies(Independence Day etc etc). The cut scenes are pretty cool, they use animation models but they act so well and moves very natrually(mostly), because they were motion captured, with the good voice acting, it's like watching a soap opera.
Now for the grapes. The trading system is too simple, you just buy and sell, and you can't affect the prices. The missions are too dull, you just kill this and that, no variety at all, they could have had missions where you transport things etc, or exploration missions. And talking to NPC's for jobs and rumors are just as dull. After the main story line is over, and depending on how much you like to explore and make money to find the best ship/weapons to wreak havoc, it could get boring. But these are minor, I'am sure you'll enjoy it even if you like space sims very little. |
