I didn't do much research on this product before I bought it, which was my biggest mistake. I pretty much bought it because it was on sale for $30 and it looked real nice.
Ok, here are my facts. The software for the keyboard and mouse on the benq website didn't seem to be for the correct keyboard. The software said you can configure the 5 hotkeys........but on the x805 there is 13 keys. The help file didn't explain anything. So pretty much you plug it in and the 13 keys did whatever the the default was set up as. Thats it. I contacted customer support about it by email and they replied:
"Hello,
We do not have a solution to your situation by e-mail. Please call our tech support line at 866-600-2367 for further assistance."
So I called them and no one there could help me, no one had the software installed and they gave me the run around. They gave me a nonexistant email to contact and finally, one lad took my contact info and said he'd get back to me after he talked to research. Needless to say, he never did.
The mouse is horrible if you're a gamer. It seems to fall 'asleep' if you don't move it for maybe like 30sec or so. Also I noticed that the mouse jumped around a lot on my wood desk. I guess the dark grains in the wood affected the mouse. It worked fine on a blank sheet of paper. So this means that the optical sensor is a pretty cheap one. One important feature to have with a wireless mouse and keyboard is the battery level indicator. In the software it only had icons what full and empty looked like. It didn't have the current status, which further suggests that the x805 software wasn't actually for the x805.
In the end I returned it and bought a Logitech LX700. I should have trusted my instinct and sticked with Logitech. It was well worth the extra money.
And most of all, I love the logo for this keyboard "Form meets Function". If this company can't successfully release a product as simple as a keyboard, I couldn't imagine the other problems this company has. This is an example of bad products backed by good marketing.
Benq, never again.
In Summary:
Benq customer support: NONEXISTANT
Product Rating: GARBAGE
Thanks for listening to my rant and I hope it was helpful. |

"Terrific keyboard" by: Hurricane_Harold This is simply a terrific keyboard. The mouse may be (read: is) useless, and the keyboard itself may be a little finnicky to sync, but once it's up an...more
