A huge disappointment

» Pros
The storyline is pretty good, and it's nice to have an openended game like this.

Fast load times.

Throwing things around is lots of fun.

Good use of lighting and shadows.

Some of the biomods are very cool. I especially like the vision enhancement biomod that lets you see through walls.

» Cons
Very poor voice acting. Most of the voices sound flat and emotionless, especially considering the situations they're supposed to be in. The voice files also sound grainy, like bad compression from games 7 years ago.
It's also very disconcerting hearing one footstep sound for every 5 or 6 steps you actually take. I'd rather have the footsteps off than hear them like that.

The graphics are very inconsistent, some look very good but some look awful. Especially some of the character models, which look worse than the models in the original Deus Ex.

Not to mention that it doesn't seem to want to save my video settings when I quit...

Facial expression animations are also bad, I would think they could at least try to match the mouth movements to the voices.

Poor performance! This game runs absolutely awful for how it looks. It won't run right or look correct without the latest ATI drivers, and even then it's much slower than it should be.

Although throwing objects around is fun, it's not very realistic. Some objects bounce around like basketballs when they're made out of metal, and you seem to be able to chuck around things that are way too heavy.

Terrible inventory interface. They removed all the functionality of the inventory that they had in Deus Ex. Everything now takes the exact same amount of space, and your inventory is very small. Not being able to carry very much can get rather annoying.

AI...or lack of it. The enemies are extremely stupid. They just point and shoot, and sometimes start fights with eachother because they get in eachother's way when fighting you, or just while running around looking for you.

I really am disappointed in Deus Ex: Invisible War. They removed many of the features I liked in Deus Ex, and did a poor job of designing the game.

Like many people say, DX:IW is a half-assed console port. I keep feeling like I should be playing it on a Playstation and not my computer. It was designed to be played on a console and they didn't change a thing when they ported it to PC.

I was expecting more, this being the sequel to Deus Ex, but they let us down. It's really too bad, especially after all the hype. I only hope they can manage to salvage the game with a future patch. Maybe it'll be more enjoyable then.
