IL-2 Sturmovik, Forgotten Battles is currently head and shoulders above the competition in the little world of prop planes flight simulators. The amount of careful work that went into the product is remarkable, with attention to accuracy and details that makes it possible to discover new wonders after weeks of intensive play.
Some potential for tweaking or enhancement exist in many areas, but interestingly, the developement team has proven, with the original IL-2, that they are extremely commited to support the game after release. Several patches are planned (and some well advanced in development) that will bring new planes and adjust the game parameters that may need tweaking.
As with most other sims, the online community is quite adult (I would estimate the average IL-2 player to be 25-30 years old) and, maybe because of that, quite polite and well-behaved. |
