Graphics aren't bad, but aren't cutting edge either yet manage to consume resources like crazy. Slightly better performance than Deus Ex 2, but not a whole lot.

It's actually quite a good game and I've really enjoyed it. This is also my "introduction" to the thief series and I'm sorry I missed the first two--this game is really just great. A lot of reviews seem to say, "It's great, but here are the flaws." So, enough of that. Yeah, the graphics just eat up system resources for little return, but if you can get by with occasionally low frame rates, this is a great game. And, because this is a stealth game, you're not running around a lot trying to blow people up or kill things, so even if you get hit with an occasional stutter, it's not the end of the world. (Important note, I have never yet experienced that much of a slow down in my graphics.) The writing is extremely well done, creating a great and interesting plot that draws you in. This game really is more about the plot and stealth than it is about action, and it pulls it off well. You do wind up with a rather anemic combat system, but this may have been a design choice to encourage you to use stealth. Is this a "must buy" or game of the year contender? No, not really, but it's still a LOT of fun. |
