Dungeon Seige (DS) is a good game, and it has tonnes of potential, but it didn't win my over.
For starters, the story is incredibly weak. I need a story. Leveling up isn't enough to keep me interested. Where are the NPCs? Towns are like, well, ghost towns. Diablo had more NPCs.
Dungeon Seige does do a lot right. The graphics are incredibly beautiful. And the scal is as big or small as your imagination. I'd love to create a mod for DS, if I had the time and know-how. The packmule is a fine addition to the genre, as is the "get all," button; no more searching the ground for each item.
If you're not playing for the story, but playing for the leveling and hacking, then you're in luck - DS is packed with this stuff. Leveling up is simple, say you are an archer - the longer you are in combat as an archer, the more you archery skills raises, until you level up.
DS is a good game, but it didn't wow me like I thought it would. For Diablo fans, however, DS is a sure thing. |
