Graphics, can't say enough about them.
Runs very well on my system (Athlon XP 1800+, 512mb ram, PNY GF4 Ti 4400) despite being two years old.
Sound is terrific.
Simple playability, like Quake 2

Uh... repetetive
too many triggered events
way too long before reaching hell
final boss wasn't let up well enough
lack of use key
where did the lights go?

While simple to play, and had lots of fun playing it, I thought it was too long. If there weren't as many triggered events and better AI, it wouldn't be too much a problem then. Haven't tried multiplayer, as Doom doesn't seem to be multiplayerish to me.
Now, the game is fun if you're like me and just want to shoot em and go on (which is why I have like 89 deaths in Halo PC, 39 asssists, and 45 kills). It's also fun since it's so easy to play. I liked how cool the enemies looked. They are definitely some great memories, the first time encountering enemies. That's about the gist of it.
Now, the con side is the whole no profile selecting. It's more of a personal thing, because that way, when you save, it's only your save, and you won't get confused with another's save. I think all games with decent single player should have campaigns (at least the FPS's and other games of that sort) All in all, I don't mind too much. As stated by others, the story isn't the greatest, triggered events are repetetive, and I thought the final boss needed a better lead in. Should have been better I thought.
Wraping up this, the game was superbly fun and enjoyable. Visuals were by far the best part of the game, followed by the sound. The story wasn't the greatest, but it worked for me, just a little lengthy. I'd say get the game. Despite its cons, it's worth getting, at least just for the visuals. |
