I upgraded my PC for Doom 3 just for the SP, but it turns out I could have made do with my old Computer. Especially since how I am dissapointed by the game.

Is it a bad game? Of course not. The Doom 3 Singleplayer experience has been the most memorable Single Player experience since StarCraft for me. However, after the first few hours of play, I was extremely looking forward to the rest of the game but was greatly dissapointed.

When you first get into the game, weather you're running it at the max resolution possible, or cranking out 25 FPS at the lowliest settings, you will be amazed by how fantastic the graphics are.

As you venture more into the game however, that impression gradually fades away. The repetitive level design and the very very gradual and slow introduction of new enemies take its toll on even the most trigger happy players. You will feel that you have been running in the same facility, fighting the same enemies, and doing the same missions for about 70% of the game. The remaining 30 percent are split between hours of looking at your PDA and very very few moments that made you go "Wow".

Hardcore fanboys will find the game to be graphical wonder that consists of many tributes to the revolutionary game that was the original Doom. However, for the casual people who may just have discovered this franchise through the overwhelming hype it received before the release, this might not serve to be the amazing adventure you expected.

Instead of betting your fan on hellish demons, I suggest you do it on the more amazing creatures: Human beings, for they will be the ones improving this game through MODS and hopefully, you'll find your $50 worth.
