Awesome graphics engine!
Scarey sound. (For a short period of time)
uninspired game design. Focus is on atmosphere but game design flaws begin to become apparent and hour or so into the game. Very repitive and illogical game play. It seems all the demons have the keys to hidden compartments all over the base. What engineer would create hundreds of hidden closets and chambers in a military or research base. The lack of a flashlight on weapons. Flaws like this just serve to reduce the suspension of disbelief. No connection to the other characters in the game. Story line, voice acting and dialog are sub par.
I was waiting for this game to ramp up to the next level but it just never did. Visually it is stunning but the effects are just ok due to their cliched nature. It's like I seen them before in many other games or movies. This game is supposed to be a trail blazer for all types of media but lack of creative energy kills it.
Let me explain more.
The chainsaw has just one basic attack (Thrust forward). What about a automatic melee attack depending on key movment so you can swing it right to left, up and down etc. Nothing to complicated just a little bit more range of motion. Also what happened to the character voice attacks when using these weapons. Nothing...dry empty. The more I played Doom 3 the more it's flaws became obvious. No alt fire modes either. AvP 2 has some obvious implementations of this. Doom 3 should based more in reality. It doesn't have to go overboard with alt fire attacks like Unreal. Four years for this game and this is all we get. Do better id, your losing me as a fan.
