I normally don't care for trends, nor for "the latest thing". I mean, hell, I listen to heavy metal, and drive loud nasty cars that scare the ladies - I obviously have no care at all for image.
But Diablo's image grabbed me, smacked me around, and made me lose my Corvette's keys for the first time ever...the popularity of this game made me try it, and I was hooked from the first movie...
In short, the game combines all the fun RPG elements, without all the techno-babble of dice-roll and plus/minus', and adds the pure battle-rage of Warcraft and Starcraft. In short, this was one of my favourite games ever. (all time fave is Tie Fighter - no not Xvt - the original Tie Fighter)
It's hard for me to remove my bias when looking at this game - it has the gothic ambience, the stirring music, the classic "kill satan" story, hordes of vile demons, great weapons and armor, distinct classes, four seperate worlds...the list goes on.
The only knock I have is multiplayer. It would have been nice if they'd added a new world, or just one new "plane", as in Dungeon Siege (which I've also reviewed).
All in all, wonderful game, waiting for DIII. |
