-Dual wielding.
-Plasma Sword.
-Assault rifle.
-Rocket lock on.
-Jacking vehicles.
-Playing as an elite.
-Tight controls (Still the best tuned FPS, IMO)
-Much more engaging story, except for the ending.

-How the game ended, what the hell was that?
-Parts of game were confusing and frustrating.
-Really, what the hell kind of an ending is that?

I really loved the first Halo, it was the reason that I bought my XBox, so I was really looking forward to Halo 2. But after all the over hyping and anticipation and when I finally got the game in my hand and played through it, damn, I'm really torn.
Here's the good. It was just pure joy the first time I dual wielded and the first time I locked on to an enemy with the plasma sword. Those are probably the two most memorable moments for me, there are too many to list here. Still the easiest control FPS controls to pick up and play and get used to for me. I thought it looked great, a few minor exceptions (the really dark parts). It's really Halo 1 with so much more thrown in.
But, man, I can't stand how the story ended, OMG, could the ending be any lamer? I mean, Halo 3's not going to be out for a while, what the hell, Bungie? Yeah, yeah, you want a cliff hanger to end the game, but, dude, that sucked. Didn't seem like it left much to the imagination as to what's going to happen next. (Master Chief fights his way to the bridge of the ship kills everyone and saves Earth. Woo Hoo. How else can you continue it?)
Anyway, I think because of the over hyping I'm burdened with higher expectations, and that killed some of the excitement, but sitting down and really thinking about it objectively, I still love this game and am so glad it's out. Can't wait to frag some buddies soon.
So, don't let the hype skew your expectations, go in with an open mind and judge the game based on its peers and you'll see there is no equal. |
