Don't get overly impressed with the graphics

Yes the engine and graphics are excelent. Yes the AI is very solid, Yes the game play is smooth and almost flawless. But lets look at some of the limiting ACTUAL game play that could have been better.

» Cons
You can't jump! How absurd is that? A Spec OPs person can't jump up on to boxes or ledges to give him an upper hand! Lame.

Also when climbing up and down ladders you take about 60 seconds to sling your gun and make more noise than shaking a can full of rocks. Then while you are climbing up or down the ladder you can't even pull a pistol to give you some cover while cresting the floor. If I was the unlucky guy to check out a crowsnest for a possible sniper, I would certainly have an offensive weapon ready in case I find/stumble upon someone and deffinately want one ready after all the noise I made while slinging my rifle.

Next, If you have a handgrenade (notice the non-plural name) in you HAND and try to open a door you can't. Explain how having a flashbang in your left hand makes your right hand become non-functioning. It kind of eleminates the whole reason for being able to crack a door and roll a banger in to the room to SUPPRISE the people in there.

Talk about the whoel falling and gimp leg bit. I would hope these guys are trained and talented enough that when you would walk up to a ledge with a ladder you would automatically go into a climbing position instead of having to hit an action button. But watch out, if you are not perfectly lined up with it you can fall right over the edge and then wind up looking like "Gimpy the lame Duck" who broke his leg and keeps going.

Lets talk about being realistic for a second: HEARTBEAT DETECTORS. What a bunch of BS! If you needed to cheat to win then just put in the hacker codes and turn it into a bad online session of Counter Strike. If this is supposed to be "real life" or Tom Clancy claims it is as close to it as possible, then can anybody honestly tell me where these have been used in any conflict or situation from Viet Nam to present day? And don't give me the crap about "It's top secret" what, just like Area 51? They must keep these detectors next to the UFO's and little green Space men. This just insulted the game and the whole basis it was created around.

Don't even get me started on the limited left-to-right view angles or lack-there-of while in the prone position. YOU CAN'T EVEN LOOK BEHIND YOU OR OVER YOUR SHOULDER TO CHECK YOUR 6!!!.

Now that I am done ranting I would like to say this: For the few short-comings I pointed out I still think the game hit the mark as far as closest to realism(almost) as well as authenticity as far as movements, actions, weapons (you can see the serial markings on the handgrenade as it flys past your face) and design. I would have liked to of seen them look at some of the real life aspect a little closer.

I still think it is a great game and am still playing it often.
