During Stardock's Beta phase they put up a poll asking what was more important - Diplomacy or Combat? As an 'Exterminate' sort of player I voted for combat, but the diplomacy people won by a wide margin.
I've played the game a bit, but I still find it somewhat disappointing. I'm just not getting the "one more turn" effect that even a middle of the road game like Civ3 gives me.
I keep hoping that the people at Stardock will continue to tweak the game and add a better combat system. Given their history I believe that they will, but I just can't give the game a 'great' rating until they do.
